Recommendations for a watch budget $300

Hi all,



As per mentioned above, i'm looking for a dress watch that could be use for office as well.

Budget around $300 - $400, cos i'm 20 years old and will only begin work next year.

Bear in mind i have a skinny wrist, but i prefer those sleek and slim kind.

Your recommendations are much appreciated!

Identify whether-

1. what you like? Mechanical or Quartz?

2. Simple 3 handers or multi-needle quartz chronos?

3. what brand you comfortable with? Seiko, Orient, Citizen, Alba, Casio?

Do enlighten me on mechanical and quartz. Whats the difference?

I'm currently looking up on Seiko and Orient watches online and i would prefer simple 3 handers.

A few designs which i find nice are the seiko SAR(No.) collection. Maybe it's because i haven't seen much designs.

For most mechanicals, you'll have to wear it every single days to keep the seconds needle running. There are some movements that may allow you to hack, meaning to say stopping the seconds sweeping, some does not. Those that does not mostly can be found in Seiko watches. Most of the mechanical watches have power reserves of average 40hours, and this applies to Swiss or Chinese movements as well. Those with higher reserves might command higher price.

Unlike quartz, there may always be some discrepancies in seconds with mechanical movements. But there's always a reference specs to verify whether a mechanical movement is faulty or not.

Generally mechanical movements are battery free.



Quartz movements are controlled by electronic "regulators"/"micro-computer" that gives you very precise timing.

Quartz movements are generally thinner than mechanicals.

Quartz movements are battery operated.

Quartz movements watches are generally budget friendly. With $300 budget, you can get 3pc if the prices are right.

As in you have any suggestions of watches you recommend?

If i go for more than 1 watch within the budget of $300 - $400, you have any in mind for me?

Ok... since you don't really have any idea in mind...

Say.. you're working in a office environment, you'll need something modest in look, low profile, no blinky stuff...

Of the mechanicals, what i can suggest is to go for the SEIKO militarys, such as the fliegers or field watch. These can be get below $200 with some change. Such as-



the SNK8xx- where xx refers to the colors. Black should suit you better, compliments to most out-fits as well.

The price as stated on the website $321 is it considered a good deal?

With that price i can get me a good Swiss diver's watch with swiss mechanical movement.

Of course, different folks have different type of affection to different preference of an object.



I couldn't advise on the price, but the look of your choice fits the bill of a modest timepiece for a new rookie in an office.



I suggest that you don't order from the internet yet, just use the infos as reference, then go to a shop(as suggested by fellow brudder here), molest the thing in life, bargain on better deals.
