what would you all do if you see a posting when you very well know the price is $x but yet ppl sell it for 5x more of the price elsewhere? Honestly, i feel like going to picha his lobang. :lol:

That's a very unhealthy practise of trading, that could eventually smear the reputation of the community. If the profiting is less than 50%, still acceptable. 100% too much liao.

situation is, you buy $x and you sell $5x overseas? Would the opinions have changed?



I think SG watch community especially in Seiko community already abit smeared on overseas forum. It is good to earn money but earn this way, really ish :roll:



This seller somemore say he is "reputable" one.. :lol:

1.sell amulets @ sungei rd (get ur 'genuine' WAT RAKANG SOMDEJ by AH CHAN TOH frm BKK TAPRACHAN @ 20baht n sell in sungei rd @ $100)...genuine wrk ac toh somdej can easily cost u a 3rm hdb!



2.sell hp n accessories @ simlim (1 screen protector 4 iphone easily can sell $100)



3.driv taxi n every nite park @ orchard tower (outside taxi stand) n oni fetch angmos frm there 2 either their own hotel or bencoolen 81 @ $30-$45 per trip!!!



The abv 3 jobs bela bela 1 mth can earn $5k-$10k loh

I would just leave it. If some goondoo fella buys it without doing his own homework then too bad for that person. The fella will learn his lesson the hard way.



Its demand and supply, if both parties agree, dont see how selling it at a ridiculously high price is a problem(its definitely not illegal!). Just look at some Seiko's in Ebay, some of the vintage chronos were priced above $500, it has been relisted for the last 3 months, and I would expect it to continue to expire and relisted for the next 3 years or more.



Then once in a long while some fella comes along and purchases it at an outrageous price, it could be due to a variety of reasons, maybe sentimental reasons, lazy to do research on the price and availability, or just pure stupidity.

i agree to a certain extent. In another scenario, you see a watch listed as original but pieced together by aftermarket parts. Would you have blew the whistle? No doubt this is no longer a dollars and cents / demand and supply question. Just as a fellow WIS, would you have done anything other than ignoring it? I just feel sick that people are doing this to exploit others.



I'm sure there are people on the forum like me wanting to sexpose this person but like most Stinkies, i chose not to. I dont mind doing it offline though. :oops:

The scenario you are paint now is different. Your first post was about price, now its about a watch with aftermarket parts. It a different discussion with different results.



I agree that if he listed the watch as 100% original parts etc then I would feel compelled to expose him.



Regarding price, if I knew a forum bro was interested in the watch then I will warn him. Otherwise I would just let the seller quote his price, no matter how ridiculous it was.

I'd feedback if there are aftermarket parts in a watch expressed as original.



Selling high, on the other hand, while it offends our sensibilities, is no crime. This happens in the stock and property markets as well. While stock prices tend to move more continuously, property here do rise and fall in significant discrete jumps as well. For a watch, if I know of a friend who is about to get fleeced, I'd warn him and point him to alternatives.
