Omega Speedmaster Mark II 1972/1973

Just join the Speedmaster club ;) I wasn't really keen on one till I saw the Mark II, love the case. Bigger, thicker and hefty.



The condition is really great, lines well defined, could be refinish or polish at some point.





Face, dial and hands are in very good condition.





I haven't figure this out yet. Most of the Mark II I checked is "T Swiss Made T", usually meant that Tritium is used for the lume. "Swiss Made" is on my dial instead.

Case back, I accidentally introduced some scratches. :oops:





Saw a few service markings, including 1 in 1981.









The movement that went to the Moon, Caliber 861 with 18 jewels.

This refers to the chemical used on the hands and hour markers, which causes them to illuminate. Around 1950, watchmakers started using Tritium as their luminous material, and began indicating the amount of that radioactive material with a designation at the bottom of the dial (i.e. T SWISS T or SWISS T < 25). Around 1998, watchmakers changed the designation to read SWISS or SWISS MADE, when they replaced the Tritium with LumiNova (an organic, non-radioactive chemical), as their source of luminescence.



T SWISS MADE T indicates that the radioactive material Tritium is present on the wristwatch. The amount of radioactive material emitted is limited to a maximum of 25 milliCurie.



SWISS T < 25 more specifically indicates that the wristwatch emits an amount of Tritium that is less than the 25 milliCurie limit.



SWISS T 25 indicates that the wristwatch emits the maximum allowable amount of Tritium (i.e. a full 25 milliCurie).



SWISS (or) SWISS MADE on wristwatches produced after (around) 1998, indicates the presence of LumiNova as the luminous material. (Please Note: "SWISS" or "SWISS MADE" was also the indication on wristwatches produced prior to the 1950s, when Radium was used as the luminous material. However, at that time "SWISS" or "SWISS MADE" simply indicated that the watch was, in fact, made in Switzerland.

Hence to say bro,the dial without Ts are mostly factory replacement after 1998 or 2000. Think Omega service center still has new remade-replacement dials. My 2 cents

Ah, thanks for the info, so this piece probably has new dial and hands and a refinished case, hence the good condition.

I called it OEM replacement dial cos think can only get from Omega service center when you sent in your Speedy...not sold outside.. hands wise I am nt sure riao. but your example is sweet esp with that mesh.. :)



refinishing of case very common for speedies,flightmasters or any omega divers etc...so no worries ;)

Haha, yah but I took out the case back and left it in my dry cabinet, there's moisture inside.



I heard Ah Goh don't do the 861 so probably have to look for Mr Ang for servicing lobangs. ;)

Nice watch. Clean and cast very well define. But being a watch at it's age, I prefer an untouched dial and hands. Value will drop significantly even if parts were oem. I guess u factor in these already.



Anyway, still very nice watch, especially the metal band.

The mesh bracelet is damn cool !!

Very nice :) congrats, and I love the new dial. No need to baby, can just wear. Also no need to worry about flaking tritium.
