Just thought I'll share some pics of my "MM200"

SKX171 dial + SKX007, which I thought a very handsome combination :) In the corner of the pic you can see the folded link oyster bracelet which I wanted to pair with this watchhead.

This folded link oyster from Seiko is not for everyone.... I modified the endlinks and the end of the bracelet to fit the fat bars, but somehow the endlinks doesn't quite cover the space between the lugs....

Another let-down of this bracelet set are that the folded links are stiff between links, and after taking out all removable links from the 6 o'clock side, there are still 5 links left (I'm a 4.5 link wrist size, for centered clasp). Not to mention that the folded links look quite low-rent, not commensurate with the watchhead.

I know that I could easily order an aftermarket oyster bracelet, but for "ideological" reasons I wanted to show that Seiko could have put together something like this for us, with existing parts, so I continued searching for a better factory Seiko oyster bracelet...



Eventually, I came across a SKX007J, on JDM bracelet. The watch was pricey at almost S$400 (because of the bracelet), and the factory bracelet was available for sale separately. So I did what I had to do.... :D



Notice that the bracelet has the push button release, and solid links. The links also "bend" or "pivot" like the oyster bracelets of rolexes...

Best of all, this "JDM" bracelet can be shortened to 4.5 links on the 6 o'clock side, finally allowing me to center the clasp on my wrist.

This oyster bracelet has broader center links than the folded link oyster, and the end-links fit very nicely between the lugs. The links are also solid, and while it does not take fat spring bars, it is too big for the usual small spring bars also. I finally found spring bars of the exact size, and everything locks into place nicely with no excessive freeplay nor rattles. I'm not sure if it is apparent from the pic, but this oyster bracelet is also significantly broader, with less taper, and heavier, nicely balancing the watchhead. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yes I suppose that, plus buy more watches :lol: :lol: :lol:



A basic set can be purchased from mustafa, old side top floor. More advanced tools for hands and crystals you'll have to buy from suppliers. For what I did here, all you need is a small swiss army knife like the ones sold in emart.

I bought the whole watch for about $380. Took the bracelet, mounted rubber straps on the 007J and gave my brother.

Yes it's possible. Alternatively just do like I did and put the SKX007 bezel on the SKX171...

A watch shopkeeper told me that the SNA225 chrono solid-links oyster bracelet is a match for the SKX007.



He said just have to open up the end-links.



Any bros here know about this?

Yup... it is.... sna225 endlinks are 22mm so no problem on my skx diver! ;) You can even use the super oyster endlinks with the sna225 bracelet.... ;)
