i uses it, from cutting veggie, mooncakes to fruit :lol:



it's really handy to keep one in ur bag, you never know when you'll need it :twisted:

fireal,ask you abt tanto blade type of knives.. have seen documentary hw traditional Japanese samurai swords/daggers are begin made and really sweat and hard effort on each pounding.. but for these modern knives with 'tanto style' blades,for example SOG,CRKT,etc...its just the design style nia or really makes a difference(blade strength,sharpness etc)?



any knives with tanto blade you preferred?

this has to do with the manufacture already , nothing to do with the blade style

no doubt the japanese made great knives for their time

but now technology has surpassed many of the obstacles faced by traditional methods ... now knifemakers have access to super steels like the s90v , zdp 189 , bg42 etc , and do cryogenic treatment , tempering , to give steel the best possible properties...

as for blade shape , diff blade styles serve different purposes .



a wharncliffe style is good for say kitchen work/ paper tasks , cos it is very planar

a spear point is good for thrusting/ stabbing

a drop point is great for slashing

a tanto point has a strongand thick point so good for stabbing

ya quality got to depend on material and hw the manufacturer produce them.. hmm..



so a serrated+tanto combo(folded) is useful for outdoors? think good for camping

fwah...that one weighs hw much...think at least 2kg? :lol:



got many victorinox basic knives in various colors and 1 thick victorinox multi tools...this one is heavy enuff riao..(abt 3cm thick)

I got carried away with Swiss Army Knives last time...





I used to carry a "Huntsman" model with alot of tools. Now mostly carry the SAF issued one around on keychain. Got beer bottle opener can liao. Haha.

sometimes you carry one heavy multitool in pocket/side pouch kinda uncomfortable...so must carry one on each side to feel balanced.. :?



oh and those swiss army knives I have now belonged to my dad some 15yrs back..now they are mine.. :P

the cheaper ranges are outsourced to other countries but the higher end ones are manufactured in solingen , germany , another famous knife making place





haha im a big beer fan , fav beers are rochefort , triple karmeliet , orval , hopslam etc... i hate skunky beers like tiger/corona/anchor/ carlsberg , blue tongue , warsteiner

I don't drink lager in general, but i love chimay though, almost all their blends.
