Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
I believed most of you have these kind of experieces. Be it from buyer/sellers on forums or evengood/bad services from AD boutiques, lai lai, let's vent out our frustrations!!
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
got many many .. just highlight a few

1)

selling a vintage oris watch , posted pictures everything , said fitted with new aftermarket strap blah blah

then when meet already ( he was damn late too) he said no original bracelet he dont want liao.

first thing is that model is no bracelet one , 2nd thing is since when i say got bracelet???!

2) sell this guy a vintage roamer manual wind for $80 ,7- 8 months later call me say saw some scratches and want me give him some money to repair.. .jitao stun , then i refused and he started to pester me on the phone for a few days to argue.
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
Just after a heavy dinner and decided to warm up my finger a bit to contribute this thread.

I have not hoot many watches but among the sellers that I encountered, Herzausstahl, Fireal, Ah Goh (K2), and EK (antiquewatcbar) have been a nice experience. No hassle and friendly. Of course, not forgetting Mr CEO and those who I exchanged email with, You Guys rocks!!

Cheers
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
Best Experience with seller, first on the list must be CEO liao. One of the most honest seller I ever seen! He will not run away after taking your money and something is wrong with the watch. His price so far is always the best, usually is pple take advantage of him, buy liao and flip at a higher price.
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
Ok, I don't play the name and shame game, so I'll just share some of the positive experiences (folks in this forum that I know of)... ok not in order of merit...

MeePok - We found out later on that he is my school senior, only because I used our school code of conduct as my signature in another forum.

Lunarin - Our virgin deal was for his g-shocks. Fate had it that we were to deal on several other watches over the past two (iirc) years. Let's see... we met at CCK, Jurong East, Jurong West...

Silverguy - My apologies that our meeting was so so so brief. I was rushing out to meet Lunarin lol... +1

Dragonboat - Another very rushed meeting, in his car no less.

Kermit - Lol I actually picked up his IC from his wife to send to him at SGH prior to one of our meets. Another bro with whom I've dealt with several times, at loyang, at yio chu kang, at serangoon gardens, at SGH, at Tiong Bahru... awesome.

Oosimm - Our first contact was through WUS. I was pursuing the casio strand of my watch obsession, and at that time Oosimm was one of the few hardcore casio vintage collectors locally. I still remember we were doing bezel swaps and stuff at a block behind Tiong Bahru Plaza. Back then he was not into mechanicals yet I think.

Aiken - Got to know him thru Lunarin, even before I knew he was on the forums. Another +1 bro.

Phantom - Very swift and decisive bro. Met at my place, no time for long chat because he was going off for work.

Sellwatch - Fantastic monocoque seamaster I got from him. My wife loves it. It was such a coincidence that he works opposite my car mechanic.

Roo - Thank you for maintaining this forum, and thank you for the straps. Wished we could have more time to chit-chat.

Petrolnut - I bought a number of watches from him. Delivery was always prompt and he always gave me a nice goodwill discount which I appreciate.

Madabt - Cycled to my place. Young and Fit bro!

I'm sure I missed out several other bros, whose nick I do not know.
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
Haha, I was eager to use it for my runs and still using it, Bro herz :) Thanks +1
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
It is nice how this hobby brings folks together. Watches are a common touch-point for many of us who probably would have very little chance to crossing each other's path otherwise. Makes life so much richer!
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
i believed sellers/buyers(usually own bros) from this forum are all good bros.

So far, I have had 100% positive buy/sell experiences with each & everybody here in this forum :D

how about external local forums or international forums experieces?

just describe your experiences, no need to mention nick, unless u really buay tahan

i tink the 'Toby' should be super famous.
Re: Share your good/worst buying/selling experiences locally
I've got my small 7A and 7T collection mostly from ebay. So far no major problems. Only a 7A38 that I bought had a bent spring bar, but that was easily replaced and fixed.

Apart from that, most sellers do not bother to clean up their watches. Generally after receiving a watch I have to remove the bracelets and give them a hotwater bath with old toothbrush scrubbing.

I have also bought watches from SCWF and PMWF, the sellers I dealt with were from US. All good experiences, most times watch condition was better than how it looked on pics.

Now waiting for a flightmaster to arrive from another seller in US from Watchuseek.

I like scrubbing the wabi off also, feels shiok to see it gleaming. For the really grubby ones, after scrubbing I will drop it into my ultrasonic cleaner for a few rounds.

Bro you have ultrasonic cleaner? pro lei...

Agree that it feels shiok sitting on my wrist after the scrub, but the seeing the black spots dotting and floating around the whole basin is quite sianz lei

Yah I have an ultrasonic cleaner. The thing about scrubbing is that it may look clean visually. Sometimes after we start wearing it and get our wrist wet, there will be black fluid left on our wrist leh. So especially for the vintage ones I'd remove the watch head and ultrasonic boom the bracelet.
