Decisions......

Decisions......
Hi all,

Just need some advice b4 i pull the trigger,

I'm really torn between a MM300 and a Tuna 015,

I know some would say cannot compare, its like an Apple and Orange comparison, MM300, superior Auto Movement whereas the 015 is quartz.

Having own a Sumo, Samurai, and most recetly a 6309-7049, every time when i need to wear them, i need to adjust them b4 going out and for now, a watchwinder is out.

For the Tuna 015, its Quartz, can just pick and go without worrying unless the battery dies off, which won't be in the near future ;) also it has an added advantage, Day feature compare to the MM300.

Ultimately every1 will go for the MM300 which is like the Holy Grail but to be on a practical side, something that is worn everyday, which would u choose :?:

Thanks for reading and ur views are much appreciated ;)
Re: Decisions......
hi bro, my collection are mixture of auto and quartz. normally i will decide what to wear like 10min before hand eg while bath or brushing teeth. quartz take and go. auto i spend 1 min to adjust time and date. for me, to spend 1 min with my watch is not asking too much for 24hrs a day. while adjust, i can look at my watch, admire it, look out for scratches, dust, eg. but my wife will nag at me lah, but i will also say u spend 5 min looking at mirror what! hee hee..ultimately, it is the love of which watch u like, if vit M allows then buy 2 lor
Re: Decisions......
I pick the MM 300.

From far rooks like lolex Sub. Wear liao rooks satki.

MM 300 can blend in as dress watch too. :D
Re: Decisions......
auto and quartz?

i will go for mm300 first.... tuna is almost everywhere :)
Re: Decisions......
Thks guys for the quick input, another reason would be the cost, hearsay MM300 going for S$3.2K and Tuna 015 going for S$1.5K++.

With the other Seiko Autos that i have, just worried that the MM300 will just end up on the shelve like the rest.

Of course buying both would be the best option but is it really necessary
Re: Decisions......
for me i stick to quartz for tuna :) new theme.

the mm300 always has a place in me.

from what u said, seems like tuna more towards ur needs.
Decisions......
Yap agree, towards ur need, Tuna indeed!!! Hopefully Seiko will re-production MM300 like Tuna 015 n 017 beauty in the making!!!
Re: Decisions......
Flip the Sumo/Samurai. Get the MM300 and Tuna
Re: Decisions......
Thks again bros for the input,

Back to the dilemma, to be honest, my decision really leans 2wards the Tuna as something i can pick and go, the movements also quite accurate but becoz of the very well reviewed MM300, thats why i'm still on the fence.

Anyway flipping the Sumo and Samurai don't really get near the cost of either above mentioned watch btw i luv the Sumo, its accuracy is very
Re: Decisions......
Bro, since your decision leaned towards tuna then you should listen to your heart! Even when you hoot the mm300, your heart will still long for the tuna..... ;)

I must said both watches are quite good but they are very different in many ways, and I think you already knew the pro and con! Very important point u had mentioned.... grasp and go.... it got to be the tuna..... ;)
Re: Decisions......
Alvin bro, after I read you "dilemma", I sense that you are looking to hoot one 'grab n go' daily watch that's rather different from having to handwind/auto wind it, ..and you been talking how accurate this quartz tuna is..and sure you do love the way its designed..you knw the tuna look..

That is (IMO) what you need now,so go and hoot one quartz tuna.. whereas the mm300 is in another chapter riao..that could be your grail for 2012 or the ultimate watch? tuna can be a daily wearer but dont think you wear your mm300 everyday.
Re: Decisions......
get the tuna n join the club ...

;)

*Note: I don't believe the Samurai should be getting this kind of money, but I sure as heck know that it DOES! :P

Honestly, I'd go with the Tuna... the MM300's a nice goal, but for an everyday watch I'm not sure I'd trust myself to take care of it, and not     when I scratch it up.... ;)

Not sure about the SBBN015 vs the SBBN017, though; the 017's got the blasted finish I like, whereas the 015's a brushed finish. The 015 does have the black bezel insert vs the steel on the 017, and the nice bracelet. Meshing the two woulda been perfect, but you can always DIY! :ugeek: ;)

Of course, that's for right now; give it a few more months, and you'll not be able to resist having both of them! ;)
Re: Decisions......
you all think too much le,,,, mm300 can be worn daily mah..... its very hardy de.....

like that then no issue with keeping it wound, and make full use of the $3000.... dun keep it in good condition for the next owner...

Re: Decisions......
Grab and go watch? then Tuna fits the bill.

I have three Tunas and one more just join the row. On weekend I will just pick up any one and go. Bum around house, water the plants, play with baby. Also to go shopping, go back inlaws place etc. And all are on metal / rubber to facilitate getting wet, washing and hanging to dry (yes, i hand them to drip and dry in the bathroom, lol)

I prefer to spend less time to think about what watch to wear on weekends as that is what I already been doing on weekdays.

Really one grab-and-wear-and-go-and-forget watch.

Best part, time is "chun-chun" one :)
Decisions......
As I don't have any quartz, my definition of grab and go is yesterday's automatic. haha.

Usually I spend some time choosing what to wear although choices can be rather biased if you are going through a honeymoon period.

Re: Decisions......
Alvin bro,a quartz tuna like sbbn015,007 would be nice but u lookng to buy from overseas(WUS,SCTF) or local forums? time to time can see better deals in WUS.. good luck bro!
Re: Decisions......
get the tuna 1st... save $$$ for the MM300 later.
Re: Decisions......
Thanks again bros for the valuable inputs and opinions, i think for now most probably will go for the Tuna 015, will scout around for a mint condition piece and at a later time, hoot a MM300 ;)

As bro samloi said, sell off the Sumo & Samurai and get the Tuna & MM300

Than after that, no more headaches, best of both worlds :)

It doesn't end there. Soon you will crave for other tunas such as emperor tuna, darth tuna, golden tuna, etc.

Another poisonous bro...
Re: Decisions......
His web blog is even more poison.....  Heng I never kenna his tuna poison.....
Re: Decisions......
I perceive the MM300 (which is a specific watch) and Tuna (which encompasses a slew of variants) this way. :D

The mm300 is definitive, with no commonly available variations. When we say mm300, we know it is THAT watch. It is like when we say sea-dweller, or DSSD, or Spring-drive 600. There's something special about a watch that has no variants, single-mindedly designed and marketed. 8-)

I own and like tunas (non-hidden lugs ones at least), but if I say I own a tuna, it is in the vein of stating I own a Datejust/Sub Date (diamonds? gold? two-tone? SS?), G-shock 6900 (solar or battery? collab? hypercolour?), Seamaster (quartz or auto? size? dial colour? bezel colour?). There are so many variants, some of which are almost variants for the sake of fashion.

Of course there's enough room in my emotional watchbox for both, but the MM300 will always be the more special one. In my mind, it sits in the company of uniques such as Submariner, Sea-dweller, DSSD, Autozilla, Springdrive600. How many Seiko models do not have variants?
