recommend me a dress watch???

recommend me a dress watch???
Harlow experts here!

I've just sold away a pilot watch to fund another purchase.... so my remaining watches are either too bling/huge, or too ex(to myself) for daily office wear.....

so I'm now looking for an affordable dress watch for daily wear... but the models I know of are the popular ones which breaks my budget of sgd$250... eg Seiko cocktail time, Orient 60th anniversary... any recommendations from experts here??

-38 to 42mm

-leather or bracelet okay

-auto or quartz okay (but prefer auto...)

-must looks clean and simple, date window at most

-Sunburst dial preferred

-vintage or preowned okay

-$250 sing, exceed abit okay if really nice

paiseh if I sound cheapo.... but am looking to get an affordable low profile watch...

thanks for all the recommendations
Re: recommend me a dress watch???
if u r looking at true dress watches ;) i would prefer these personally :lol:

I know it's not 'simple' (with the PR) and it's more of a checkered swirl rather than a starburst, but still good-looking! ;)
Re: recommend me a dress watch???
250 sunburst dial i think you can check out those pre eco-drive era Citizen 'eagle' autos.

SARB045's blue dial is damn sex man, but 615usd before tio tax... way out of budget.

shall start saving 1 dollar for 2 years and hope usd don't climb too much :lol:
Re: recommend me a dress watch???
Try going down to Big Time @ Sims Ave., you'll get a good look at what they offer and don't think you'll leave disappointed, even if you don't pick one up there.

Would've recommended this Orient if you're budget were higher, WV0551ER:

http://www.orient-watch.jp/product/category/item/?item_id=694&category_id=90" false;

but Japanese model, and roughly $300, + shipping.

Big Time @ Sims is cheaper than the one @ Taka. There may be a slight premium, but they're supplying the shops selling non-Grey-Market Orients in Singapore. As I said, while you might not find what you want, it might be worth it; they've got other brands there too, including Mido's, and some nice Seiko's too.

The WV0551ER going to be slightly higher than $350. It'll be approximately: ( Y19,800 + ~Y2,500 (s+h) ) * JPY/SGD rate * 1.03 (CC foreign exchange fee), which would be $375-ish
Re: recommend me a dress watch???
ya go for vintage :)

think i'll try to see the CFD0E001W in real life before deciding whether the dial is too busy for me... at s$200, its quite attractive to me...

Re: recommend me a dress watch???
If that doesn't do it for you.... how about this?

ER1H001S: http://orientwatchusa.com/er1h001s" false;

:D

Problem with Seiko's are that finding one w/ only date is difficult... they've got the the 7S25/7S35, 7S55, 6R15's, 4R15, and now the 4S35. Only problem is that the 7S25/7S35/7S55's are out of production, the 4S35's are looking to be in the $400 range, and the 6R15's even higher.

The 4R15's likely your best bet, but I'd not seen all that many dress watches using that movement... There are a couple, but never noticed them specifically.
Re: recommend me a dress watch???
Another one, this one not Japanese!

Seagull M177S.

Picked this up today morning without thinking.... but then realized that it fits what you're looking for, provided they still make it. Not sure about that, it was thogut they were going out of production a while ago, but they're apparently still available on Taobao. Just be aware the movement isn't great (i'd even put the 7S26 above it), even if it does have stripes for the see-through back...
Re: recommend me a dress watch???
If u are into Orient watches, can look here

http://orientwatchusa.com/mens/executive-watches" false;

Then ask Big Time if they can bring in for u.

Irene and Leslie (the bosses) are damn nice people.

(which reminds me, i havent visited them for a long time liao )
Re: recommend me a dress watch???

Nice deal on a similar watch? Product code: CFD0E004W
Re: recommend me a dress watch???
Why is Orient seemingly priced at a discount compared to Seiko or maybe Citizen??

Any insights?

wow thank you for keeping a lookout for me...

Still prefer the varient with baton/stick markers. makes it look cleaner. the arabic numerals made it look alittle busy... been to king wah, they dun sell the stick marker varient! :(

but this one (below) is still the best... at $800... beyond budget!

"Yeoman"

Just saw on Orient Japan's website that they will be releasing a classic looking Orient Star. This model looks like the 60th Anniversary model except it is automatic with hack and handwind.

More variants here:

Here's a picture of my 60th Anniversary handwind model for comparison.
