Just got another piece today... a black dial/PVD bracelet MILITARY SEIKO 5 sports to add to my collection since my last purchase- 1month ago(!!! must be siao right? :lol: :lol: :lol: ), another SNZG17...only that this time, the J make... Comparing to the last one i got, this piece feels a little different... no no... it's not the fine print of "made in japan" that's different... but some thing else.

I'll share a good close up look with fellow brudders here in a few days time. Watch this space...

Hmm.. is it worth paying the extra for the lumed numbers and the TiCN plated bracelet?

Im always scared that these plating scratched already will look ugly.

Any type of PVD coatings will eventually subjected to wear and tear... the only difference is, what kind of PVD chemical/material was used.

If your work is less rugged in the sense that if you're an office worker, these coatings will not be easily scratched. However, if you're working in an environment where your watch may come into contact with tools or hits and knocks... PVD coated steels bracelet or cases is not encouraged.



So far i've worn the Steinhart DLC diver as well as the SNZG17 both to work(in a warehouse environment) and outing, have no scratches so far. Perhaps bcos i removed the watch when doing rough works... but the first sign of wearing off had been found with the hook of the bracelet of my Steinhart... the hook shouldn't be coated.
